2. Identify the exact document type, such as docket sheet, order, plea, sentencing order, or other public criminal filing.
3. Visit the Clerk of Courts Office to view public documents, or email CoCRecordsRequest@YorkCountyPA.gov with the docket number and document type.
4. Pay the required copy or certification fee in advance when paper or certified copies will leave the office.

Criminal court calendars are also available in UJS by choosing Calendar Schedule under E-Services. Calendar access is useful for hearing dates and scheduled events, but it does not replace a request for a specific public document.

Certified York County Criminal Copies

A certified criminal copy is normally used when an agency, employer process, court, licensing body, or attorney needs proof that a document is a true copy from the court record. The Clerk of Courts certified copy fee applies whether the certified copy is hard copy or electronic. A certified copy is different from a UJS screen result because it comes from the office that maintains the criminal file.

Start with the docket sheet, then request only the documents needed. Common examples include sentencing orders, disposition records, plea records, and other public orders. Juvenile records, sealed filings, confidential victim or witness data, and expunged or limited-access material may not be available to the general public even when the docket history shows that a case or filing existed.

Clerk of Courts vs Prothonotary

York County's split clerk system is a practical search issue. A person looking for a divorce decree, custody order, PFA filing, civil judgment, lien, or other civil/family case should use the York County Prothonotary. A person looking for felony or misdemeanor criminal filings, summary conviction appeals, criminal costs, fines, restitution, and criminal public documents should use the Clerk of Courts.
